Same thing as Pyridium! (Phenazopyridine)
Wow! Imagine my surprise when I found out that this product, which was prescribed by my doctor for a UTI (urinary tract infection) was available over the counter! I had just paid my insurance co-pay of $10 to get 6 tablets, and happened to mention it to a girlfriend who is a nurse. She told me about AZO, and said in her opinion, it was the best of the over the counter variety.So, I immediately looked this up on line, and sure enough...here it is! This version of the product, called standard, has 95 mg of this ingredient mentioned above. This manufacturer carries another version called "Standard Maximum" that is 97.5 mg, and I do not see it available yet on Amazon. The prescription version is for 100 mg tablets. Well, they all do the same thing, including turning your urine orange in most cases! This dosage was sufficient to give me fast relief. Please make sure to read the package warning section, as if you wear soft contact lenses, it can permanently discolor...

makes it better
These pills wiill make urination less painful for you while the antibiotics you got from the doc (you did go to the doc, didn't you?) cure the UTI. The only caution is that your urine will turn some bizarre color -- this is noted on the box.

Great product, poor packaging
I suffered a car accident a few years back which crushed my pelvis and severed my urethra. Due to a blockage of scar tissue I have to regularly catheterize myself to keep the area free of obstruction so I could void.I am so glad this product is available OTC, it is the ONLY product that actually eases the pain and discomfort down there. The only other method that even has helped me is high doses of ibuprofen [800MG min] or Naproxen [2x 240mg pills].The only things keeping me from giving it a perfect score is the packaging is ridiculous. The pills are separated in pairs in these cheap plastic packs and when you go to rip a pair off, more often than not you end up tearing another package open on accident. Blister packs would have been a much better option IMHO.Also the price is steep to other comparable products...

Finally!
I had a UTI, as any woman knows this is a serious pain to deal with! I took Azo for two days, and ont he first day I noticed the pain was gone, and i could fully empty my bladder. such a blessing. However, it does turn yellow this impressive colour neon orange. (Think traffic cone) and it stains EVEYTHING panties, poants, even the toilet! So be careful, but a panty casualty is well worth the relieve.

Not very fast, but works great when it kicks in
I've been using this stuff off and on for a couple years now. I was prone to UTI's for awhile (And UTI symptoms off and on when I don't have a UTI, they suspect I have interstitial cystitis, aka "painful bladder")and in a pinch this stuff worked great. Unfortunately it takes awhile to get into your system and actually start working (about a day or 2-3 doses as must take 2 pills three times a day), and your not supposed to take it for more then 3 days because they want you on antibiotics so you can get rid of the infection instead of masking it. You can actually die from a UTI if it gets bad enough and you don't seek treatment. However, since I have flare ups that aren't always UTI's its nice to have this product to get rid of the pain instead of having to see my dr and pay $100+ for the visit, tests, and prescriptions (or lack thereof when the tests are negative)Its a shame this stuff is so expensive (in stores) though, but they usually give you a $1 off coupon inside...

Best product on the market for UTI's
This is by far the best product available for Urinary Tract Infection that is over the counter. It works fast at numbing the discomfort, and as long as the UTI is in it's early stages, will knock it out of your system. I have avoided the need for a Dr's appointment with this stuff. Highly recommended.

They help immensely
Occasionally I have a burning sensation when urinating I take these for a few days and its gone! I have been to a doctor and don't have kidney or bladder issues and he says if this helps keep it up!!! He told me that many people have the same problems and it is generally from eating an acidic food or tight clothing while this not a horrible pain it is uncomfortable.

better than azo for quick pain relief
I cant speak to Cystex's ability to prevent UTIs, as I dont use it as a preventitive (which is why i only gave it 4 stars-maybe that wasnt fair, but, oh well), but when you need really fast relief of UTI symptoms, definately go with this product! Azo cranberry is great as a preventative measure, and that is what I use to prevent infections. But when I stop taking it for a long time, and get a UTI, Azo's pain reliever does not relieve the pain as quickly as Cystex does. It works really really fast! I cant remember exactly how long it took, but it was definately somewhere around 20 minutes.

Amazing miracle pill for my chronic UTIs
I've been using ClearTract for about six months now, and it amazingly has been a "miracle drug" for me. I've been UTI free since I first found ClearTract, and now if I start to feel the first painful, frequent inklings of what might become a full-blown UTI, I take anywhere from three to nine capsules w/in a 24 hour period, and the next day my symptoms are gone. Hallelujah. For over ten years I've suffered from chronic UTIs, getting anywhere from four to ten annually. Sometimes they seemed to be caused from intercourse, sometimes from too much coffee, sometimes from lord knows what. Sometimes my UTIs were bacterial and sometimes they were not. Always have a culture done on your urine to find out if yours are "bacterial"; if they're not, then antibiotics won't do a darn thing to help. I don't have cystitis, but I sure worried that I was heading down that road. Awful, awful, awful--the pain, the frustration, the embarrassment. I can't tell you how many times I've made emergency...

D-mannose changed my life
For the past 2 years I suffered a uti every time I had sex, regardless of obsessive hygiene. The constant use of antibiotics (macrobid, cipro, bactrim) damaged my joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves, especially those in my arms hands and shoulders.The physical and emotional toll of the uti's and antibiotics was severe and I was at the point where I thought I could never have sex again.By chance I read an obscure testimonial online about the healing power of this magical sugar and I am relieved to say that since using d-mannose I no longer get a uti after sex. A great product for eliminating UTI's
Over the years I've gotten UTI after UTI. It got to the point that the antibiotic macrobid didn't work, and sometimes even multiple courses of the strong antibiotic Cipro were required to chase one away. I started using this product a few months back and it really does work. If I even feel like I'm getting a UTI, I can take a precautionary dose and the "UTI feeling" goes away. I highly recommend this product to anybody with this recurring problem as a safe natural alternative to antibiotics.Cleartract is actually D-mannose, a type of sugar, but it is safe even for diabetics because D-Mannose isn't metabolized, so it doesn't interfere with blood sugar regulation. D-Mannose creates no disruption or imbalance in normal body microflora so it won't make you more prone to a yeast infection like antibiotics often do. I highly recommend it.

What the instruction DON'T tell you is the correct doctor approved methos of using these strips.For home use, your test should be the first thing in the morning, Not in the day or after a meal.Next pee in a "urine sample bottle" available from your doctor or pharmacy free usually. This eliminate the contaminationfrom your cavity liquids. Dip the strip into the bottle and wait only a count of three and then lay the test strip on a piece of tissue paper and start counting (this is VERY important.ONE minute for the Nitrate pad and 2 minutes for the Leukocytes pad. Maybe not so accurate
I have been having frequent urinary infections so I bought this product. I tried one strip and it showed I had a bladder infection so I went to the doctor.They did a test and it showed I did not have an infection. So I do question the accuracy of these strips. Although they are very convenient to have. I guess it is better to be tested and not have an infection than ignore an infection.

Fast acting, will hold you over till your Dr. visit
This stuff usually kicks in about a half hour to an hour after taking two pills. It turns your urine bright orange, and it will stain EVERYTHING, but it masks UTI pain completely. The package says take two pills two to three times daily, but I only need it once every other night or every night when I have a UTI. It keeps working during the day. You have to be careful though, cause this WILL NOT CURE your UTI, it only relieves the burning, pressure, and urgency feelings associated with a UTI. You HAVE to make sure to make a Dr. appointment or overload on cranberry and water to get rid of the UTI. This product works so wonderfully that you become very comfortable and able to go about your normal life while having a bad UT infection, that could possibly lead to a kidney infection which requires a hospital visit most often. So don't let the lack of pain fool you, you so need to address the infection portion of your ailment.

Miracle in a bottle
I love my Azo! Since giving birth to my second child, I've had urinary complications and uti's are unfortunately one of them. I still remember the first time I got one, I really thought I had a torn urethra! This pain is absolutely unbearable. Take two tabs of Azo and within an hour it takes effect to gradually eliminate the burning pain associated with a uti. This of course is temporary and will definitely keep you comfortable until you make an appointment with your doctor. This is an analgesic and WILL NOT cure the infection. It WILL completely mask the symptoms. Call your doc and get some antibiotics to cure it. The package says take two three times daily, but I have never used more than 2 a day each time. It's that good.
